RIP. Farley Mowat

Renowned Canadian Author, Farley Mowat passed away today at the age of 92.  Mowat’s publisher was Sunshine Coast based publishing company, ‘Harbour’.  Howard White of Harbour Publishing remembers Mowat as an author who tirelessly worked to influence both the public and government policy through his writing.

Though Harbour only acquired the rights to Mowat’s works when it recently took over Douglas and McIntyre, White remembers Mowat as an author who did what few others are able to acheive in their career; Influencing the public and changing government opinion through his literately, such as 1952’s “People of the Deer” and “A Whale for the Killing”, released two decades later..

Harbour’s Howard White says he only met Mowat in person once, many years ago, and they did most of their recent work over the phone and through his agent.
