Town Centre Hotel Strike

Though the Town Centre Hotel is approaching it’s 20th anniversary, workers may not have cause for celebration…  After voting, all 35 workers were in favour of a one-day long strike outside of the hotel last week.

lorrie Dyer, Local 40 Union Vice President, says despite mediation to conclude bargaining, the workers have not inched any closer to a fair agreement with the employer.
The union claims the workers main concern is improving access to medical benefits by reducing hours required for eligibility.
This would allow workers to maintain their medical benefits through the slower, winter months a standard achieved by other Local 40 hotel members throughout BC.
At this time, Sun News has tried to contact management and will keep you updated on further comment.
