The NDP’s transportation critic is pushing to get tax payer funded ships such as those for BC Ferries… made in BC.
North Island MLA Claire Trevena has tabled a private members bill called the provincial ship building act… that would give priority to ship yards in BC when bidding to build boats for the police or BC Ferries.
Trevena says the job creation potential is also huge.
For the bill to move become legislation the government needs to take it on and bring it forward in the legislature.
