Lack of military spending in Federal budget

One political scientist warns that the lack of military spending could be the Achilles Heel of the federal budget.

The financial document defers $3.7 billion in planned spending for replacing military equipment until after 2020.

Retired professor and political analyst Allan Warnke says that decision could be problematic, especially given the current global political climate.

Warnke says the attack in Brussels the day the budget was unveiled shows that Canada could be called upon by its allies to provide international support with very short notice.
