The BC Government is welcoming the fourth modern-day treaty in the Province.
The Tla’amin First Nation near Powell River this week became the most recent nation to move to self-government.
Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation John Rustad says it’s an exciting time for the nation. He notes the other Nations are really making great strides since moving to self-government.
He’s hopeful for more agreements in the future.
Rustad says the treaty marks a new relationship between the government and the nation and he says he is excited to work with the Tla’amin First Nation going forward.
