Always be prepared for an emergency

Thousands of trapped residents in an oil field North of Fort McMurray have been air-rescued.

The residents are from Fort McMurray who headed North to escape the blaze. However, the isolated camp has a limited supply of food and gas, which prompted the air rescue. WestJet has been making continuous flights and will continue flying people from the camp to Edmonton and Calgary today.

Emergency Coordinator Bill Elsner says it’s a reminder of the importance of having a grab-and-go bag ready to go.

You can find out more information about how to prep a grab-and-go back at Prepared BC’s website.
