Sechelt looking to update smoking bylaws

The District of Sechelt is planning to update its smoking bylaws.

Bylaw Enforcement Officer Greg Horning says the current bylaw is due for an update.

Horning says the current bylaw is 20 years old.

He says one of the updates would be increasing the smoking buffer from 3 meters to more than 9 metres. He notes it would also include a ban on smoking in parks and public property.

Horning says there will be a public consultation process and the specifics of the bylaw update could change based on the feedback the District receives.
