Possible postal strike could impact property-tax payments

Property tax owners are being urged to not put cheques in the mail, if you want your payment to be received on time.

Anne Guillo with the City of Courtenay says there is the possibility that labour disruptions could hit Canada Post on July 2nd.

Guillo says taxes must be received by 4:30 on Monday, July 4th.

If you’re payment isn’t received by 4:30 on July 4th, you will be hit with a 10% penalty. Guillo says you can pay your taxes online or through your financial institution.
