The qathet Regional District has received a million-dollar grant for their Resource Recovery Centre project.
The grant comes as part of the province’s Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program, with the goal of supporting projects that promote economic diversification, community resilience, and clean growth opportunities.
The project will be used to help reduce solid waste creation in the area, with the hopes that it will provide economic and environmental resilience for future generations.
Regional District Board Chair Clay Brander says that this grant will help ensure the construction of this project remains affordable and accessible to the community. The grant will also help reduce overall project costs, with the Infrastructure Program covering 80 percent of them.
