Powell River has received inquiries relating to a construction-related blast.
The blast took place on Thursday last week at a private property on Lund Highway in Wildwood.
Neither the blasting contractor nor the owner of the property informed the city of their intention, or that they were having the blast take place, according to Engineering Services Manager, Nagi Rizk.
Bylaw enforcement arrived at the scene at 2:45 pm, and while the contractor wasn’t there, the workers directed the officer to where the blast took place.
The City adds that two permits are required to conduct blasting within the municipality, one from the City itself and another from Worksafe BC, with the contractor needing to hold a valid blasting license from the Workers’ Compensation Board.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway by several agencies, including city staff and WorkSafe BC.
