If you recently harvested any shellfish from Okeover Inlet, the Tla’amin Nation wants you to put them away.
This comes as the Nation and Resources Guardian Watchmen were testing water in different local areas, where they found harmful toxins in Okeover on Monday.
They ask you to not eat, give, or sell any shellfish you got from the area in the past few days, with the Nation advising you to safely discard them back to the beach.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada has been informed of the discovery, with the watchmen and nation continuing their testing.
An update will be provided to the community once the toxins have been cleared.
