Be wary of driver fatigue

North Island Traffic Services is also reminding drivers to be wary of fatigue.

Constable Chris Mousseau says driver fatigue can lead to death, and it’s important to stay alert behind the wheel, especially during a long drive.

Mousseau says it’s important to know the signs of fatigue. Some of those signs include yawning, wandering over to the next lane and seeing your speed go up and down.

Mousseau says it’s important to plan timely breaks during a long trip. He adds drivers also need to set up a safe ride home if they plan on drinking during the weekend festivities.
