The city of Powell River doesn’t have a bus that goes directly to the rec centre.
Mayor Dave Formosa says staff is hoping that can change.
He notes the cost is quite heavy to implement a direct stop at the rec centre complex, but it’s looking like the plan might become a reality in the future.
Formosa says adding a direct stop to the front doors of the centre would benefit seniors and individuals with disabilities who want to go to the complex.
Formosa says the city is also hoping to bring automatic doors to the rec centre.
Formosa says the city is moving forward on this plan. Funding would come through the province’s 50-50 grant, which helps out in creating spaces that are accessible for people with disabilities and seniors.
