Three-year strategic plan in Powell River to be presented tomorrow

A draft for a new strategic plan in Powell River will be reviewed at tomorrow’s committee of the whole meeting.

The draft is for the City’s 2023-2026 Strategic plan, with the framework focusing on advancing relationships with the Tla’amin Nation and making systems and programs for the community.

Four strategic priorities are shown in the draft, with the priorities including Reconciliation, organizational excellence, economic resiliency, and community vibrancy.

For reconciliation, the city plans on working together with Tla’amin Nation for joint services, bringing improved inclusion and diversity, along with keeping relationships with the qathet Regional District and other groups.

Organizational excellence would focus on improving service delivery for residents, with economic resiliency seeing a move towards supporting the health of ongoing businesses in the area.

For community vibrancy, the city aims to support the development of sustainable housing, improving transportation, and endorsing social services.

City staff will present the draft for the Committee of the Whole meeting, which is set for Tuesday afternoon at 3:30.
