Powell River has appointed Lisa Bhopalsingh as the new Chief Administrative Officer this week.
She was previously the Nanaimo Director of Community Development, and worked on long-range planning, reconciliation, affordable housing, and heritage planning.
Powell River mayor Ron Woznow says they are excited to be working with her, with hopes her experience with planning can support the city’s goals.
“We look forward to her leading our staff and helping capture opportunities to increase housing and attract proven industry to the mill site,” said Woznow.
Along with her work in Nanaimo, the city adds that Bhopalsingh also worked on other fields, including regional growth management, community land use planning, disaster resilience, and water sustainability for several districts and governments.
The announcement was made official as of today.
