Powell River is moving ahead with an expansion to its airport runway.
Council has given approval to the project.
Mayor Dave Formosa says the project will extend the runway to 3,900 feet to allow larger air crafts to use the airport.
Formosa says the work will include moving lights and equipment at the airport to allow for the runway length to be extended.
The work is expected to get underway soon.
