An evacuation alert has been issued because of an active wildfire in Toba Inlet.
According to the qathet Regional District, the alert was issued at 3 p.m. today, with a four-kilometer radius around the Toba Montrose Hydroelectric facility.
The fire is 327 hectares and has been burning for two weeks.
Ryan Thoms, manager of emergency services says they issued this alert because of unburnt fuel close to the fire.
“If lit, could compromise the singular access route in and out of the area,” said Thoms.

The district adds its Emergency Operations services will provide as much advance notice as possible, but those who might be impacted by this order may get limited notice because of the changing conditions.
