Construction is getting underway on the new North Courtenay Connector.
The new road will provide a new connection between Headquarters and Piercy road to provide a more direct connection to the Inland Island Highway from areas like the Little River Ferry Terminal.
District Manager with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Janelle Erwin says the work will include a new, two-lane bridge across the Tsolum River.
The goal is to have the new route complete by the time the new Comox Valley Hospital opens in fall of next year.
