Avoiding the back-to-school cold

The return of kids to classrooms also means the return of the annual back-to-school cold.

Medical Health Officer Doctor Charmaine Enns says it’s very common for people to get sick a few weeks after school begins.

She says there are things you can do to reduce your chances of getting sick. These include regular hand washing, not sharing cups, glasses, bottles and utensils.

Enns also reminds people that it’s important to stay home if you’re feeling sick, especially with a fever.

Enns says staying home when you’re sick is one of the best ways to ensure you get better quickly and also to ensure you don’t spread the cold to others at work or school.
