The qathet Regional District will be testing the Community Notification System later this month.
The system, which was implemented two years ago, is used to let people know of emergencies, which include wildfires, earthquakes, and severe weather.
The goal of the test is to make sure that the system is working well in case of an emergency.
District board chair Clay Brander says emergencies and disasters can strike anytime.
“The ability to receive timely notifications through the Community Notification System is vital to safeguarding lives, and property,” said Brander.
The test will start on Wednesday, November 22 at 2:00 pm.
