British Columbians can turn in old guns, ammunition or any unwanted firearms or weapons during a province-wide amnesty in October.
Minister of Public Safety, Mike Morris, says anyone who wants to return firearms, weapons or ammo should call the local detachment non-emergency line first and police will come pick up the item.
In the past decade, there have been two firearms amnesties in the province – in 2006 and 2013.
More than 5,000 firearms, including 900 handguns and two machine guns, among other items were handed in.
