As work on the runway rehabilitation project continues, you can expect traffic delays for the next three weeks.
According to the City of Powell River, crews are performing asphalt paving on the airport. It’s part of the runway rehabilitation project, aiming to improve the airport’s pavement, slopes, and centre line crowns.
Asphalt will be transported from BA Blacktop’s plant on Covey Street, with trucks using the lower access road off Duncan Street to get to the airport.
Because of the work, there will be an increase in truck traffic, which may cause delays.
The city encourages you to be cautious while driving as no traffic control personnel will be on-site.
The work starts May 13, and continues to June 1.
