Powell River City Council has agreed to provide reduced lease rates for tenants of the new library building. Tenants will pay a 50% rate until the new library is completed.
Mayor Dave Formosa says council was approached due to the delays in the project. He notes they ran into issues between the contractor, changes in the building codes, and other parties involved.
Formosa says they are hoping that now that the building permit has been issued the work can proceed as quickly as possible.
