A bike shop owner was bear-sprayed in the face by a thief who fled with an e-bike worth over $3,000 early this morning.
Powell River RCMP responded to an alarm at around 4:30 in the morning on May 30 at Suncoast Cycles. The business owners were on scene first, and interrupted a break and enter in progress.
The thief allegedly sprayed the owner in the face with bear spray, then ran south towards Reave Road. The suspect was seen leaving the area in a station wagon type vehicle along with a second person and a large dog with puffy fur.
The stolen bike is an orange 2023 Giant-brand Talon e-bike. Anyone who sees the bike is asked to call 911, and anyone with information can call the Powell River RCMP at 604-485-6255.
