BC’s Take Home Naloxone program is being expanded to Powell River.
Medical Health Officer Doctor Mark Lysyshyn says the kits have been available at the community health centre, and will now be available in all emergency rooms.
Lysyshyn says the research shows that if someone has an overdose they are at a high of having another, so it’s important that those people have Naloxone available to them.
Lysyshyn notes the number of overdoses this year has doubled in Powell River and many of those have involved fentanyl.
