Powell River RCMP are asking for your help to find out who torched a piece of heavy equipment.
Police say on June 7, Powell River Fire Rescue asked for help with an excavator that was on fire on a vacant property just south of the Italian Hall.
Officers responded to the scene and saw the firefighters extinguish the fire, which caused a lot of damage to the excavator.
Despite the fire, no surrounding property was damaged, and no one was injured.
Police say before being set on fire, the excavator was spray painted with violent and racist graffiti, graffiti similar in nature to another piece of graffiti found at James Thompson elementary and in the lobby elevator outside the library in early May this year.
