Locals encouraged to give BC Ferries feedback at upcoming public meeting

One Powell River councilor hopes lots of people show up on July 3 to give BC Ferries an earful.

At Thursday’s regular meeting Councilor Jim Palm pointed out there’s an in-person community workshop coming up, hosted by BC Ferries, to discuss local ferry services. He said he and Powell River’s Ferry Advisory Committee chair hope people with concerns take the time to show up, and make them heard.

“Powell River is sometimes left behind when ferries are leaving Langdale and that type of thing, and overcrowded even on our route to Comox these days which I saw early last week, with all our seniors travelling out of town on a Thursday to take advantage of the cheaper fare,” he said.

The goal of the meeting is to help BC Ferries prioritize feedback from the public, and identify the most important issues with ferry service to the community. It will be held July 3, starting at 6 pm and those who RSVP will receive the location for the meeting.

Registration is required, visit BC Ferries’ page for the local advisory committee to sign up.
