Stage 2 water restrictions in effect for qRD’s water system

As of this week, the qathet Regional District is implementing stage 2 water restrictions on its own water system.

The restrictions are for the Myrtle Pond water system, with the goal of conserving drinking water so the supply lasts until either the return of seasonal rain or the end of the water shortage. The restrictions have been in effect since Wednesday.

For watering your lawns, you are only allowed to water them on weekends before 9 a.m., with even-numbered houses to water on Saturdays, while odd-numbered ones to water on Sundays.

The district adds you should set automatic systems to water between 5 and 7 a.m. only, and to hand water between 6 and 9 a.m.

Watering your lawn on weekdays is not allowed without written authorization, according to the district.
