Residents can share thoughts on Savary Island Community Plan this month

You can provide feedback on Savary Island’s community plan through two events this month.

According to the qathet Regional District, they are updating the Savary Island Community Plan to build on previous plans and studies, and to give opportunities for the public to share their thoughts and ideas.

The plan, last adopted in 2007, helps outline the future vision, goals, and objectives for land use planning on Savary Island, which helps the district make decisions on land use, housing, environment, and tourism.

As part of the updates, the district is holding two events.

The first is an open house, where people can take part in engagement activities and talk to the project staff. It runs on August 26 from 2 to 5 p.m. on Pascal’s Hacienda.

The second event will be taking place at the Savary Island Farmer’s Market, where you can share what you value about the Island and what you imagine for its future. That runs on August 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
