The Powell River Kings’ Jace Harder has been selected as this year’s winner of the Kyle Turris Award, for his work in the community.
Every year, one player from each team in the BC Hockey League is selected for the award, based on their community involvement and going above and beyond to help others.
For Powell River, Harder was chosen for his work as an ambassador for the Kings in the Powell River community. Every Tuesday he goes to local schools to participate in the Read program. He also helps youth hone their skills at weekly CanSkate sessions.
The awards are named after Kyle Turris, who got his start in the BC Hockey League before being selected third overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
