Flu protection policy now in place at health care facilities

Influenza protection policies are now in place at health care facilities across the province.

The policy asks visitors to hospitals and care facilities to have a flu shot or wear a mask.

Medical Health Officer Doctor Charmaine Enns says the goal of the policy is to protect those who would be the most impacted by complications from the flu.

Enns says one of the benefits of getting the flu shot is not just protecting yourself, but those around you. According to the province, there are 3500 flu related deaths each year in Canada.
