Powell River councilors could fill in as mayor in meetings throughout next year.
In a report, City corporate officer Jessica Walls is asking council to assign the Acting Mayors of 2025 in alphabetical order by surname every month.
Walls says council are required to have an acting mayor if Ron Woznow can’t perform the job or is absent, with the rotation seeing a new councillor filling in every month.
This comes as Woznow is on medical leave for the rest of the year after getting spinal stenosis surgery in October.
If approved, Councillor Elliot will be Acting Mayor in January, with Isaskon in February, Palm in March, Southcott for April, Almedia for May, and Doubt in June. July to December will see the same order from Elliot to Doubt.
Walls says if both the mayor and acting mayor are absent from a council meeting, the next councillor in the rotation will step in.
This report will be presented on a Special Council meeting this Tuesday, starting at 2:00 p.m.
