Lift Community Services wants council to join homelessness task force

Lift Community Services hopes City council to be part of a task force dedicated to homelessness.

In a letter, the organization is asking the mayor and council to join this task force made up of non-profit and government agencies aiming to support a response to the impacts of homelessness.

The groups would meet up to discuss the roles and responsibilities of each party, with a plan to draft an action plan on how to mitigate these impacts.

Executive Director Kim Markel says they organized the group as a response to feedback on housing and shelter services.

“Addressing homelessness requires united and coordinated action from various community partners, and City Council insight into these issues is invaluable in exploring big picture, long-term solutions to homelessness in qathet,” said Markel.

The letter will be part of Thursday’s council meeting, set to start at 7:00 p.m.
