A property on Alberni Street is being considered for a new multi-unit development that will require some parking changes.
The owner plans to turn the property, currently a single-family dwelling, into a nine-unit, two storey building with commercial space. However, to make it work, the developer needs to reduce the on-site parking requirements from 20 spaces to 13.
In a report to council, staff say that’s not a problem, as the property is within walking distance of several other commercial, recreational, and employment destinations. They say it fits with the city’s goals of encouraging more multi-family homes and businesses downtown.
The proposal calls for seven three-bedroom residential units of around 1,500 square feet, and two commercial spaces.
