To help those in need, Lift Community Services is holding an outdoor gear donation drive this month.
The drive’s goal is to raise donations for good quality tents, sleeping bags, mats, backpacks, and disposable rain ponchos to give to those struggling with homelessness.
The organization says this fundraiser comes as their emergency shelter closes on March 26.

Lift Executive Director Kim Markel says while a tent isn’t a home, the shelter being closed will force community members to sleep rough.
“We want to make sure they are as prepared and comfortable as possible,” said Markel.
“The closure will be deeply felt by individuals, families, and the community as a whole.”
She hopes through this drive, the community can show support to those currently in a tough spot.
Along with tents and bags, you can also donate via cash and gift cards.
You can drop off these items at Lift’s head office at 4448 Marine Avenue on March 24 anytime from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
