Powell River Kings confirmed for 2026-27 BCHL season

The Powell River Kings will remain in Powell River after reaching an agreement to continue as a franchise member of the British Columbia Hockey League for the 2026-27 season.

Interim president of the Kings Society Joe Mastrodonato thanked supporters who backed the club’s contingency plan.

“Without the tremendous support from our community, partners, and stakeholders, the outcome for the Powell River Kings could have been very different,” said Mastrodonato.

In December, the club held a town hall where officials announced it was losing financial backing amid a $200,000 shortfall, raising concerns about the team’s future in Powell River.

In a statement, the team said the Kings are excited to move forward with stability and a renewed focus as they prepare for the upcoming season.

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
