The qathet Regional District has provided an update on the Crother Road fire north of Lund.
The qRD says the blaze is being held at 2 hectares and crews have successfully contained the fire on all sides.
Equipment is remaining on site, and regular site monitoring will continue until fire officials have declared it safe for full demobilization.
General manager of emergency services Ryan Thoms confirmed that one structure was lost to the fire.
“We are saddened to report that one structure was initially lost, and our condolences go out to the family impacted by this structure loss and appreciate the owner’s cooperation throughout this incident,” said Thoms.
A statement from the qRD is asking the public to stay clear of the area as it remains an active fire site.
Residents are encouraged to take steps to utilize the qRD’s FireSmart program.
