Planned power outage for Powell River area Sunday

BC Hydro is reminding customers in the Powell River area about a planned power outage Sunday, June 7.

The outage is part of the next phase of the Jervis Inlet and Agamemnon Channel power line replacement project.

It will affect more than 14,000 BC Hydro customers in Powell River and surrounding areas, including Lund, Cortes Island, Texada Island and Saltery Bay, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

BC Hydro said crews will also use the outage to complete routine maintenance aimed at preventing future unplanned outages.

BC Ferries is not expecting the outage to affect sailings on its Saltery Bay to Earls Cove and Powell River to Comox routes.
