A man and woman have been arrested following a robbery in Sechelt.
Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to the 5600 block of Cowrie Street around 10:30 Wednesday morning after a woman allegedly tried to steal items from a business.
“The suspect told staff if they were prevented from leaving the store they would stab them and brandished a pocket knife,” said a statement from Sunshine Coast RCMP. “Store staff allowed the female suspect to leave and she then fled to a vehicle waiting nearby.”
A passerby provided police with photos and the vehicle’s licence plate, allowing officers to locate and arrest the pair.
“Both individuals are known to police and reside on the Sunshine Coast,” said RCMP “Fortunately no one was injured during this incident.”
RCMP are reminding businesses not to physically confront people during thefts, as situations can quickly turn violent.
