Powell River City Council is looking at banning the sale of single-use plastic-bottled water at civic facilities.
Councillor Rob Southcott says it was a recommendation brought forward from the Youth Council, based on a similar initiative at Brooks Secondary School.
“Over the past year, particularly in the rec complex, new water fountains have been installed so that everybody can fill up their wonderful, re-usable water bottles with our incredibly good local water”, he says. Southcott notes the details of how the ban will be implemented still need to be worked out.
