Forum on overdose prevention goes tonight

A community forum is taking place this evening (Thursday, May 11) to discuss the fentanyl crisis and overdose prevention.

The speakers include Medical Health Officer, Doctor Paul Martiquet. He says it’s important to bring stakeholders together to discuss the opioid crisis here in town.

He says users need to be aware that any illicit drugs could be contaminated with fentanyl.

“For the people who know users and want to help them, the key is to basically make sure that when they use, they aren’t alone and if there is an overdose, it’s known where the antidote [Naloxone] is.”

The forum is taking place at the Community Resource Centre, starting at 7.
