The following stories have been culled from the crime blog of the Powell River RCMP for the week of March 8th to March 14th, 2016.

Impaired Driver Caught

On March 8th, at approximately 3:30 pm, an impaired driver was caught by police in the 4700 Block of Bowness Avenue in Powell River. The driver was found a have a blood alcohol level of more than double the legal limit. As a result, the vehicle was impounded for 24 hours, the drivers’ license was suspended for 90 days and the driver is facing the criminal code charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Impaired Driver

On March 11th, at approximately 4:00 pm, a vehicle was stopped by police near Manson Avenue and Cranberry Street. The driver demonstrated signs of alcohol consumption and did not have a current driver’s license. As a result, the driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and faces possible criminal charges for driving under the influence. Also, the vehicle was impounded for 24 hours and the driver was issued an administrative driving prohibition.

Stolen Bike

A bike has been reported stolen from the area of Chilcotin Avenue and Covey Street. The bike’s described as a Gray 2005 Giant STP2 Mountain bike (approx. $800 dollar value). If anyone has information about the whereabouts of this bike, contact the Powell River RCMP.

Impaired Driver

On March 13th, a vehicle was stopped by police on Burnable Street near Harvie Avenue. The driver demonstrated signs of alcohol consumption and subsequently failed two roadside breathalyzers. As a result, the vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver’s license was seized for 90 days.
