A fire ban is being put in place for the Coastal Fire Centre region.
As of noon today (Friday, May 13th), all category 2 fires are banned.
Fire Information Officer Donna MacPherson says crews are finding that the forest is rapidly drying out for this time of year. MacPherson says a category 2 fire is larger than a campfire, up to about 3 metres.
MacPherson says campfires are still allowed. She notes there have been 22 fires so far in the Coastal Fire Centre so far this year – all of which have been human-caused.
