Halt to lawn watering coming to parts of the Sunshine Coast

SECHELT, BC – Stage 2 water conservation orders are going into effect July 28, by the Sunshine Coast Regional District.  Washing vehicles and boats will still be permitted using a container, hand-held hose with a nozzle or at commercial car washes.

The SCRD explains the regulations are to help ensure that demand does not exceed the capacity of the water supply and distribution system and also ensures that there is always enough water for fire protection. The updated restrictions will also go into effect for watering food producing plants and trees.

Meanwhile, restrictions are not going to happen for waters users south of Pender Harbour and water users on the Egmont, Earls Cove, and both Pender Harbour water systems until further notice.  Commercial food producing farms paying a metered rate for water are exempt from Stage 2 regulations.
