Several popular trails east of the airport are closed this weekend while the airport runway rehab project continues.
A stand of trees east of the airport needs to be harvested so the airport approach meets the latest air safety regulations. The trees are located on Tla’amin Nation lands.
While the work is underway, the trails known as the Ground Pound and Farmer’s Lunch are closed, starting today [Thursday]. The affected area can be seen circled in red on the map above.
Drivers can expect traffic delays on Hammil Main Road while the work is carried out, flaggers will be on the roadway to assist with traffic control.
The work is expected to be completed on Monday, June 3.
