Powell River Mayor Ron Woznow is on medical leave.
The City of Powell River says council granted the mayor a leave of absence at the October 10 council meeting for the rest of the year so he can recover from spinal stenosis surgery.
They say while Woznow will attend future council meetings remotely, there will be an Acting Mayor in place to cover for him.
For October, Councillor Rob Southcott filled in as acting mayor, with councillors Earl Almedia and George Doubt filling in those roles for meetings in November and December.
