Mental health provider aims to create new space for qathet youth

Foundry qathet hopes to raise $5 million to renovate an upcoming space for youth.

In a progress report, the service provider says they have recently signed a lease proposal on a 12,495 square foot space. The goal is to create an inclusive safe place for youth to hang out, gather, and connect.

This comes as part of Foundry’s goal of helping people struggling with mental health or substance use challenges.

So far into the project, they have hired a designer to work on the schematic design of the space.

“We have reached out to existing community services to see how they envision utilizing Foundry qathet,” says a statement from Foundry qathet.

“We have formed our Youth and Family Advisory Committees to ensure youth remain centre to all of Foundry qathet’s priorities, formed a Leadership Advisory Table and Anchor Table with local and regional representation, and are developing and structuring service delivery and ensuring that services will reflect and address the specific needs, strengths, and gaps of our community.”

To renovate the space, the provider has launched a fundraising campaign, with the goal of raising $5 million.

They aim to open the new space in roughly two years, with plans to involve the community in the overall development.
