Canon “powershot” camera stolen from vehicle

POWELL RIVER, BC- The Powell River RCMP continues to see a high number of thefts from vehicles.

In his latest crime blog, Constable Ron Palmquist said that they received word of a camera being taken from a vehicle last week.

A black, Canon Powershot camera was stolen from an unlocked brown Volkswagen van. The incident was reported on Feb. 7th, and Palmquist said it happened sometime the previous night.

The camera had its memory card cover held together with black electrical tape.

“Always lock your vehicle doors to guard yourselves against being victims of crimes of opportunity,” Palmquist said, in the release.

Anyone with further details is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or the Powell River RCMP at (604) 485-6255.

Between Feb. 5th and Feb. 12th, the local detachment responded to 95 calls for service. These include two cases of impaired driving, six thefts, two assaults, one break and enter, and three incidents of mischief.
