Powell River Villa’s season comes to an end

VANCOUVER, B.C. – That’s a wrap on the season for the Powell River Villa.

The Vancouver Island Soccer League (VISL) team made it through to the semi-finals of the B.C. Soccer Keith Millar Provincial B Cup Championships, but were knocked out of the tournament by the host Vancouver Strikers.

The Villa advanced to the semis by defeating the Fraser Valley Blue Devils 2-1 in the round of 16 and then beating the Fraser Valley Red Devils 4-0 in the quarter-finals.

The Vancouver Strikers were the lowest ranked team to make the post-season from the Vancouver Metro Soccer League, but put on their game faces the defeat the VISL Division 3A champion Villa 2-1 on Sunday.

Kye Taylor scored the lone goal for Powell River.

The team will now have a summer of training before getting back to action in September, where they will move up to division two of the Vancouver Island Soccer League.
