Threatening message sent to Brooks School

POWELL RIVER, B.C. – The RCMP is assisting staff after a threatening message was posted at Brooks Secondary School.

According to a notice from school principal Bill Rounis, the message posed some concerns for student safety. The RCMP was contacted.

They performed thorough interviews, an investigation and a search of the campus.

“They have deemed the threat to be of low risk,” read the statement.

The BC Schools Threat Assessment Team was also contacted and is keeping tabs on the situation.

The school is open today, with RCMP on scene as a precautionary measure.

A request for comment has been sent to Brooks Secondary.
